The staff of the school would like to extend its thanks to all the grandparents and relatives of the boys and girls who visited our school on this special day. This day is one of the most important days in our school year. It is a celebration of everything positive about our communities. The bond between the grandparents and their grandchildren is a delight to see and is most uplifting.
A huge thanks goes to all the teachers and support staff who prepared the children so well and who made the grandparents so very welcome into their classrooms. The response and support on the day was breathtaking and one which showed the strength of the partnership between the community and the school. The traditional musicians, the pupils who played the violin and the boys and girls from fifth and sixth class who sang for the assembled crowd were outstanding and it was greatly appreciated by all present.
After a short prayer service and blessing from Fr. Desmond the grandparents visited the classes and then had a cup of tea and something to eat before they departed the school. Grandparents travelled from far and near and some made that extra special effort to attend. Many had not seen each other for some time and they in turn really enjoyed catching up with each other.
